    Hello everybody.
This site is great. I've loved anime for a long time but Santa Rosa was a barren wasteland. I've become an Alameda local just recently. I can't tell you how excited I was to find so many people with similar tastes.

    Things to know:
Favorite anime: Azumanga Daioh, Fruits Basket, Kare Kano, Kaleido Star, Stellvia, Angelic Layer, Princess Nine, Chobits, Haibane Renmei, Revolutionary Girl Utena and anything from Miyazaki. These are all 10 out 10 for me. In the 9's are anime like Bleach, Full Metal Panic, FLCL and Starship Operators.
    Favorite Manga: Anything from Clamp
Favorite music: The Cure, Ayumi Hamasaki, STP, Belly, Utada Hikaru, The Breeders, Gackt, quirky bands like Tsushimamire and Noodles, anything composed by Yoko Kanno.
Favorite food: Salmon, rice and veggies, topped with Tamari soy sauce.
Favorite books: Rachel Morgan and Anita Blake series.
Suprising fact: I have never been to an anime convention. My first will be AOD. Wish me luck.

I look forward to meeting all of you and also getting new anime and especially manga recommendations. If you have any manga recommendations with great artwork, character developement and storyline, please let me know.

  2. Hi Larry, welcome to our forums! You can be our link to Beefbowl Anime! I tried emailing them before but it bounced right back both times, so I haven't ever been able to get in touch with them yet.

I've read a lot of older CLAMP manga... basically anything I could get my hands on before the X manga series came along. X had amazing art and I liked the initial premise and cast of characters, but it just dragged on a bit too long and I lost interest around volume 11 or so.

I'll have to at least recommend Yukito Kishiro's "Battle Angel Alita" (aka "Gunnm") as my favorite manga series of all time!

When will you be heading to AOD? A bunch of us are going to be there on Saturday.

    Hi Ann,
Thanks for the welcome. My plan is to show up for the opening ceremonies and check out the Artist Alley and Dealers Hall. Then I'll head out to Japan Town until the Masquerade and Animemyu. Should be a full day.
