  1. I'm thinking of making a simple flash game for Bayanime visitors made by Bayanime members.

Basically it's an anime trivia quiz game consisting of at least 10 multiple choice questions related to anime. Putting the game together is relatively straightforward, but the hard part is coming up with the questions.

    For example.

What do you call this style of manga?
(insert picture of a shojo manga)

    A. Yaoi manga
    B. Chibi manga
    C. Shojo manga
    D. Taco manga

The player would answer one question at a time scoring points if they get it right, maybe getting teased if they get it wrong by an on screen character.

Anyway I am hoping people who know more about anime / manga could help me out here by posting whatever questions they can come up with in the format above (answers too).

Yes this topic would serve as a spoiler for the game, unless people want to email me the questions, but I see it geared towards newcomers and future members.

After all the questions are settled I'll put the game together in a flash file that can be embedded on the bay anime site, or submitted to flash game portals.

Also is anyone here interested in voice acting for this game? I think the presentation would highly benefit with a title character that speaks to the player.

  2. Sweet! Maybe we could just post as many questions (and multiple choice answer options) here, take the best 10, and PM you those answers...?

Here's one for Bay Area anime fans:

What's the biggest Bay Area anime convention?

    A) Anime Expo
    B) Bay Area Anime Fest
    C) Fanime
    D) Yaoi-Con

  3. Thanks Ann!

Ok I went made a small mock-up of the game.

Click here to take a look!
    .

Not a whole lot of questions at the moment but we'll get there. I hope.

  4. Awesome, lifepoint1! I like the nice simple interface! I don't want to create any extra work for you but how hard would it be to swap in the correct and incorrect graphics for new images (like for example a happy/sad Beardog face)?

Your other question was good too! Keeping in line with the whole Bay Anime theme here's another:

    Who is Bay Anime's mascot?

    A) Super Ann
    B) Beardog
    C) Neko Punch
    D) Kumaken

Well ok, maybe that one is too obvious...

  5. cool concept! not sure if you already have this planned, but it would be neat if it keeps persistent scores (sort of a top-ranking list?) I guess you'd have to have a LOT of questions to prevent cheating :-P
it reminds me a bit of those comic trivia games that you see on IRC. basically anyone in the channel can participate, and instead of multiple choice it would simply give the number of characters in the answer (making it harder to randomly guess), i.e. "who is batman's sidekick? *****". the first player to type in the correct answer would get the points, with the time taken factored in. if no one knew, the bot would give hints, where they fill in a few letters, i.e. " *o*i*". since it was irc, people can chat with each other while playing the game when interesting questions came up, which was neat.
unfortunately my anime kung-fu is relatively weak so any questions i come up with are probably going to be macross related :-)

Not hard at all. In fact I'll be headed towards that direction for the final version. As for rankings, that's a bit trickier (although doable). I don't think it'll make it into this particular game, but definitely something to think about for the future.

It wasn't completely intended, but I like the emerging focus on the bay area / bay anime facts. Seems like a good theme for a first Bayanime game. In that sense I suppose facts about, annual events, cool locations, different groups, history etc.. would make for some neat and informative quiz questions. "How connected are you with bay area's Anime / Manga culture?"

I'll try to brainstorm some more quizzers in that area.
Hmm is there anything we could use regarding Manga Cafes?
True or false questions are welcome too.
