Swap meet?

  1. Anyone interested in a swap meet? Could be done virtually, even. I have a lot of random anime stuff (manga, duplicate DVDs) and it would be cool to swap it out for stuff I actually want...

  5. Ann,

We could have that at the SJ JAM Meeting Sunday around 3:00 - 4:00. What do you think?

    TBC,

    Bobby ^^

  6. Hey Bobby, that sounds like a good idea but unfortunately I live in SF and have no car... ^^;;

SF really needs a club of some sort.

  7. true that! i never thought id say it, but i actually miss driving!
or maybe i miss geetting places in less than an hour? idk...

  8. I would like this too, but weekends are off-limits for me. An evening swap meet during the week in San Fran would be cool.

  9. Hey Justin! Will keep that in mind. I'll have to get some kind of critical mass going in order to plan this as a proper event, so feel free to mention it to any Foothill members!

Is anyone from SJ - JAMM interested in this idea, Bobby?

  10. Hey Ann,

I am sure they would be. Since I am keeping up with your messages, we need to team up together. Guys and gals, please write on my email about this!

I still have to write about our club goals for next week, that's why I am stuck at home (and my car's Harmonic Balancer which costs $560.00 is busted...-_-;;) [Cries] No Wondercon!

I will e-mail members who signed in the membership book about the swap meet. I feel like an assistant manager to the team, but I love doing this!! ^^

Do you think that having a swap meet in SF Japantown area would be good, and then the next day if they couldn't go to the SF one, go to SJ JAMM meet? It would be like, Swap Meet 2, the Sequel.

    Thanks,
    Bobby ^^

  11. Sorry to hear about the car, Bobby. :( Hope you get it sorted soon!

I was thinking we should start with getting a general initial count of who might be interested. This way we can see if planning a real life swap meet event might be feasible rather than just doing individual trades online and then meeting up individually or at some kind of event later in time to do the actual swap. Personally I have to go through all my stuff first anyway so I was already planning on writing up a list.

  12. Hi Ann,

Just e-mailed you about it. We all have 5 days to go, so I had emailed people about the event, to see if they are serious. Let's see together what the result is. A real life swap meet is better and can actually see the goods they deliver. I totally agree with you about that.

Eh, the car is going to be fixed by tomorrow or Tuesday. Such an old car..

    TBC,
    Bobby ^^

  13. Unfortunately, there is no swap meet since no one had written me back about it.

So raincheck on this one, and let's do this next month?

    Thanks,
    Bobby

  14. Sounds like a good idea, Bobby. Did anyone at your last SJ-JAM meeting seem interested?

  15. Ann,

Unfortunately no. There were only 6 people who showed up. No one sent me back an email about having it, so I cancelled it. I had a couple of friends who were going to come by, but they didn't call me or confirm.

Perhaps next month would be better.

    Bobby

    Hello
I just joined up to this site to write a comment on mikado kids (tanforan). don't give that guy your stuff if your thinking about selling it. i could probably have gotten a better price working with ebgames then this. anyways sorry for the negative vibe.

does anyone have a wishlist on what they want?
I have some really nice stuff - good to near mint to mint items. plush, figures, models, and anime cels.
    Feel free and holler.

Btw - I am into vagabond (manga) or the hakkenden if you have anything cool .

    Thanks

  17. Steve,

I don't see the connection of me doing a service for everyone around the Bay Area to do a swap meet and the comment listed above."don't give that guy your stuff if your thinking about selling it. i could probably have gotten a better price working with ebgames then this."

Neither am I taking people's items since the Swap meet meant that people have a written agreement to come sell mangas and games at a certain time frame, and have items brought ahead of time. Maybe if you PMed me befpre writing this, we can work together on this? I find the statement unclarified and convoluted. Ann, what do you think?

    Thanks
    Bobby

  18. Hey Steve, thanks for joining up. I guess Mikado Kids might not be good for selling stuff; in my experience it's always better to do a deal direct, so ebay/craigslist/here is definitely going to be better!

Bobby, it looks like Steve was referring to his experience selling his stuff on commission at Mikado Kids and it's completely unrelated to any plans to meet up for a swap meet. Btw, did you have a chance to talk to the members at SJ-JAM about a swap meet yet?

i am interested in trading. i think i got your message and i come from the same school of thought of sharing. i am and have been into anime for a long time

its a long story and sorry to bring a negative vibe to you forum. i was just venting. go ahead and persecute me for that. i am over the loss already

  20. It's ok... it's actually quite valid to have posted your commission experience here. Anyway it's my hope that eventually we'll be able to facilitate some trading/selling locally through these boards. That should be way better since we avoid the middle man!

Unfortunately I don't have any Vagabond or Hakkenden stuff, mostly just some random DVDs and manga. If you've got a list of things you'd like to sell or trade feel free to post a new thread in this forum with your stuff!
