I just got back from the free Japantown showing of the movie. Did anyone else go? It was definitely one of the best anime films I've seen in a while! The trailer I watched gave me the impression that it was going to be a pretty serious drama, but it turned out to be a pretty fun comedy at least throughout the first 3/4 of the film. I really liked the quirky heroine! Wasn't quite so impressed with the ending, but I probably shouldn't talk about that here or I might spoil it for someone...
Although the weather was drizzly and really cold the turnout was impressive! I barely got there in time to get seats before the show, and I noticed that there were a lot of people sitting on the ground and benches in the back, and some just standing and watching when I left. It would be great if they could do something like this again INSIDE!
Anyway, this really shows that there are a whole lot of people interested in anime around here!
