  1. Hello all!
Im brand spankin new to the site and i figure id break the ice by askin, what is the deal with the live action dragonballZ/Cowboy Bebop movies? The fact that anyone would even attempt to make a human look like a namek or a super saiyan just seems preposterous to me. I could go for a live action tekken, but i doubt hollywood will do it right.

  2. Hey Swifty! Welcome to BayAnime! Did we meet yesterday by any chance? Where are you from?

I'm horrified by everything about the live action Dragon Ball movie; the trailers are so indescribably... BARF! Can't take it seriously at all and it's screwing with my sacred childhood memories of the series. They took some character names (while ignoring lots of the character design and actual CHARACTER) and a vague idea from the original DB manga/anime but it otherwise looks like some kind of incredibly lame attempt at a Hollywood superhero comic book remake targeted at kids who know nothing about the original. Honestly I can't say enough bad things about it.

As for CB, I'll have to wait for the trailers but I don't feel good about it either. First of all, Keanu as Spike? Woh. (NOT cool!)

I'm really wondering about the Street Fighter Chun Li movie though. It looks so... American or something. Has "summer blockbuster Terminator-style" (!) written all over it. But it can't be any worse than the cheeseball old SF live action movie, or can it?

  3. Thanks Ann!

SERIOUSLY? Keanu as Spike? Id rather lick a cheese grater than see that movie.....
I just recently saw the SF Chun Li trailer and i couldnt agree more. I think they should title that one:Street Fighter: Again? The only good thing i can bring myself to say to the credit of the producers, is thanks for not screwing up the alpha series. jeann claude-goddamn was terrible, but there is a lotta room on the epic Martial arts Failure list for newcomers. These people should be very heavily fined.

Actually we did meet yesterday via your CL post. I got your email today, browsed the site, and signed up. i think ill be here for a while. I moved to SF in November from Hawaii.

You are right on the money about the new dbz franchise. its sad that the parents of these kids probably dont know goku from ginyu and will take the kids to that abomination of a film just to make them sit still for an hour. as if the american dbz action figures werent bad enough.....Again, the cheese grater still seems a better alternitave.

  4. I don't think they were thinking at all LOL.

I think I probably will go back to that old kung fu flick of Dragonball.

  5. Hi Swifty! So you're from Hawaii too, cool! Welcome to SF! What made you decide to move out here to the cold?!

Well SF: Chun Li opens soon and if you're going to watch it and are interested in doing a review/write-up for us, let me know! I'm sure it will be bad but I have to see it anyway. Dragon Ball I am going to skip though because it will be too painful...

(Hi I'm new too, no formal intro yet) I didn't realize they were doing a Dragonball live action too! I had heard about the Bebop movie though. I think Keanu could pull off Spike but there will be a lot of cg so I hope they don't screw it up and make it look terribly obvious or cheap. A live action Dragonball just seems like a terrible idea. The SF movie looks bad as well. First thing I thought when I saw the trailer is "didn't they already DO a live action SF? Wasn't it really bad?" Sigh.
